Storekeepers Cottage Guesthouse

Experience History and Comfort

Welcome to Wendy & Eamonn’s passion project, The ‘Storekeepers Cottage’ Guesthouse. A cottage built with convict labour for AA Co. Workers in Circa 1830.

Storekeepers Cottage is a place of cultural significance, offering guests the opportunity to connect deeply with the community, the landscape, and the rich history of the past. We believe it will provide an enriching and inspirational experience, fostering a strong sense of connection to both the place and its stories.

Escape to Historic Stroud, NSW, and immerse yourself in the rich history of Australia while enjoying modern comforts. Storekeepers Cottage offers a rare opportunity to stay in one of the few remaining Australian homes with nearly 200 years of captivating history. Making Stroud’s early history truly unique is the fact that the entire town was company owned and gated.

Sympathetically restored in accordance with the principles of the Burra Charter, while preserving the evolving historic charm from the 1830s to the present day.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, attending a local wedding, seeking a romantic getaway, on a business trip, or exploring the charming town of Stroud and its beautiful countryside, you’ll fall in love with our historic guest house. Great stay in a fabulously restored early settlement building. Large and comfortable Beds with every convenience considered by the hosts. The attention to detail in the building is amazing. We spent time walking around the historic town and took a drive to Gloucester. Would highly recommend to any history buffs and those who appreciate Old world charm!

If there were 6 stars, I would have given it. Absolutely beautiful location for a few days R&R and accommodation didn't disappoint, everything promised and more. Will definitely be back as I have a family member looking for a wedding location and this would be perfect for the intimate event that they are planning..

Stayed a weekend in the Laman suite. The bed and room were very comfortable and the house was a superb example of a well researched and laboured restoration, truely remarkable. Will definitely be staying again when the chance arises.

Step into the perfect blend of history and luxury at The Storekeeper’s Cottage! This charming retreat offers a magical journey back in time, seamlessly paired with the indulgence of five-star modern amenities. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, complete with hotel quality bed linen and historical touches which are simply breathtaking. Plush toiletries are supplied in the private bathroom. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a relaxed BBQ outdoor area, an ideal spot to unwind and soak in the natural beauty after a day of exploration in Stroud. We enjoyed an amazing breakfast at the Stroud Milk Bar & Cafe and couldn’t resist taking home some sweet treats from their huge Lolly jar range. This cottage is a true gem—we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend it for an unforgettable stay!

We couldn’t have asked for more, the hosts thought of everything. The room, bathroom, kitchen and surroundings are beautiful. The history of the cottage is really interesting, the hosts have ensured the history has been retained but with a sense of luxury. The beds are super comfy, the shampoo, hand lotion and soap provided smell amazing. We enjoyed a BBQ for dinner out the back, enjoying the views and tranquility. It was a quick walk into town where we had a great brunch and a wander around the shop
