Oak Leaf Suite

The Oak Leaf Suite name is inspired by the Australian Agricultural Company (AA Co.) historic logo which incorporates oak and eucalyptus leaves showing the company’s links with England and Australia.

Irish proverb – May your coffin be made from 100-year-old oak, and the seed is planted tomorrow.

Laman Suite

The Laman family occupied the Storekeepers Cottage for much of the 1800s, eventually purchasing it from the Australian Agricultural Company (AA Co.) in the 1850s.

The name of the Laman Suite is inspired by Thomas Laman, a skilled carpenter who arrived in Stroud in 1826 as part of the AA Co. workforce. Thomas and his family played a significant role in the early history of Stroud and the AA Co. The Laman family lived in the Storekeepers Cottage during the 1850s, and the cottage features artwork that honours Thomas Laman and his contributions to the town.

Laman was renowned for his exceptional architectural and building skills, as well as his mechanical expertise.
